  • Featuring John Wenzel

    John Wenzel is an entomologist who has travelled widely including three field trips to remote parts of French-speaking Africa. In the 1980s, he began visiting Paris regularly to study the collections at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (the National Museum of Natural History), culminating in a temporary position there in 1992. Because of his facility with the language and his familiarity with the administration of the Muséum, he became a frequent member of academic committees there including three PhD committees and one Habilitation (higher than PhD). He has published several research papers in French to provide easier access for his French colleagues. Throughout he has maintained a strong interest in French history and culture.
